Q: How did you get started in the makeup industry?
I get asked this question all the time! I have always had my hands in makeup ever since I was very young. Not only did I love it, but I was really good at it too. When someone would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up I always knew I wanted to make people feel good. I used to dream about someday becoming a professional makeup artist and making people feel drop dead gorgeous and I feel very blessed to say I now live out that dream.
Q: Why do you specify “professional” makeup artist?
I am a professionally trained MUA which means that I went to a school specifically for makeup. I attended Atlanta Makeup Academy in Atlanta which specializes in makeup for film. In the state of Georgia there is no licensing necessary to provide makeup services. I chose to become professionally trained regardless because if I wanted to charge professional prices then I wanted to be sure I was providing professional services. Not only do you master your skills in school but you also learn how to properly sanitize and disinfect your brushes and products which is so important when those items are touching lots of different faces all the time. There is nothing wrong with the self taught artists out there just be aware that anyone can market themselves as a makeup artist in the state of GA.
Q: Do you only do bridal makeup?
I do makeup for weddings, proms, graduations, head-shots, etc. I specialize in bridal but brides are not my only clients!
Q: Why did you choose to specialize in the bridal industry?
My mom worked for a bridal dress shop growing up so I have been around this industry since I was young! Over time I modeled for the dress shop and worked there myself for several years. Not to mention, I could not wait to be a bride myself! I have been dreaming of doing what I do for brides for a very long time. When my big day finally came to marry my-now-husband I chose to hire someone else to do my makeup instead of doing it myself (I was worried that I would have the wedding jitters and be too shaky to do my own). Unfortunately, after my makeup was done and it was time to walk down the aisle - I did not look or feel like myself. I had a pretty face on but when I looked in the mirror it wasn't me and it wasn't what I wanted. I was devastated. My goal as a makeup artist is to make you feel like your most beautiful version of YOU. It is easy to make a face look pretty. It is harder to capture who they truly are at the same time. I do what I do for that first look in the mirror once I’ve finished your face. That “wow” moment. My job is not finished unless you look and feel like the most beautiful version of you on your wedding day.
Q: Is a trial required for all brides?
My bridal trials are required for all brides to establish a relationship between us so we both feel comfortable working with each other! I want to make sure we see eye to eye on your vision so that you CAN feel like your most beautiful version of yourself and when you look in the mirror you see the beautiful bride you’ve dreamed of becoming. At your trial appointment we will sit down together and talk about the look you want to achieve for your big day. I will have a few forms for you to fill out and we will go over all of it together. Your trial includes a full face bridal application so you will be all dolled up by the end of the appointment and able to see what you love or maybe want different for wedding day. Yes, you will have to spend a little bit more money than if you chose an artist that does not require a trial appointment. However, you will rest easy knowing we get along so well and you know exactly what you’re getting come wedding day.
I recommend we book your trial on a day that you can get full use out of having your full face done! Engagement photos, bridal shower, bachelorette party, etc.
Q: Are you able to cover acne, scars, rosacea, redness, etc?
Yes! I am very experienced with camouflaging all of these things. I understand all too well the struggle of trying to cover up and hide these imperfections and it can be so frustrating. I personally suffered from horrible cystic acne for years and today am left with acne scars and redness. I use professional products specifically for redness and acne coverage. We will address all of these concerns at your bridal trial appointment.
Q: Do you provide hair services?
I do not provide hair services. I believe your passion shows in your work and believe me when I tell you hair is definitely not my passion! I leave that to the trained hair professionals who love what they do.
Q: Will you provide services for a LGBTQ+ wedding?
